Glenn Goulds debut album of Bachs Goldberg Variations was recorded in June 1955. The Columbia LP quickly became one of the most revered piano recordings ever made and Gould became the most famous classical artist of the day. His exciting, unorthodox new way of playing Bach left listeners awestruck and critics around the world hailing him as a genius. But until recently this iconic album was limited by the dated recording technology of its time.
On September 25, 2006, history was made again. Zenph Studios recorded its debut re-performance® to standing ovations in the CBCs famed Glenn Gould Studio in Toronto. The date would have been Glenn Goulds 74th birthday, and what a gift Zenph created to give his fans.
The Zenph re-performance is a revelation in its clarity, depth, and vibrancy. Gould seems to play at an almost inhuman speed and yet with complete accuracy. The 30 variations dazzle the listener with their inventiveness and variety. As music historian and Gould biographer Kevin Bazzana writes in the CDs liner notes, «Here, albeit with his trademark vocalizing no longer accompanying the performance, Goulds musical personality is unquestionably present...»
The opening chorus Herr, unser Herrscher from St John Passion, performed by the Nederlands Bach Society for All of Bach. The St John Passion was the first Passion Bach had written as cantor in Leipzig. The Passion story as told in the Gospel of John is different from that told by the other three evangelists – Matthew, Luke and Mark. John’s version places the emphasis on Christ’s divine origin. Throughout his suffering, this divine origin still plays a role and nowhere is Jesus as human as in the other gospels.
For this performance, we selected a cast of singers under the age of 35. Apart from the leaders, all the orchestra members are also younger than 35. The concert series was preceded by a course of auditions and masterclasses.

Валя устраивается на работу дворником по соседству с Дольниковыми, где ее и находит Гринев. Встреча заставляет Валю вспомнить события прошлого: интерес Гринева, его настойчивость, одержимость. Испуганная Валя решается бежать с Лидочкой из Москвы, но им не удается далеко уйти.
Под угрозой нового обвинения Валя вынуждена согласиться на условия Гринева в обмен на редкие встречи с дочерью.
Внезапно серьезно заболевает сын Гринева, и надежда на исцеление только одна – Валя. В больнице она знакомится с безутешной Катей, женой Гринева…

1955 год. Супруги Дольниковы – Надя, модельер-закройщик в ателье, и Леня, преподаватель техникума – давно женаты. Они хотят детей, но Надя не может забеременеть. Она просит мужа бросить ее и не портить себе жизнь. Но Леня любит Надю.
Дольниковы решаются на усыновление, после того как Леня встречает маленькую девочку Лиду. Они встретились в парке, и Лида сразу же заверила его, что он и есть ее настоящий папа, и попросила взять к себе. Директор детского дома настоятельно советовала супругам выбрать другого ребенка – Лидочка ворует, устраивает поджоги, а еще у нее проблемы с психикой.
Но Леня, уверенный в своем выборе, уговаривает жену из всех детей в детском доме выбрать именно Лидочку. Он точно знает, что вместе они справятся со всеми трудностями.
Скоро родители начинают замечать за девочкой странности…
Леня внимательно следит за дочкой и в какой-то момент понимает, что необходимо фиксировать все необычные вещи, которые происходят с девочкой.
